“Recently recovering from lower lumbar spinal fusion surgery I can only wish I had this chair from the onset of my career. The support system is intuitive and left me wondering why the dental profession ever chose to sit it’s practitioners in a regular chair. The arm rest are excellent and supportive and I am a 6”2 210 lb individual. My lower back is not nearly as fatigued as it would be without it. I notice a substantial difference when I am forced into an operatory that does not have the orbital chair. I would highly recommend this chair to anyone who is serious about maintaining their back for the duration of their career.”

“I’ve been in practice for 18 years and have had typical dental ergonomic issues wrt to head/neck/shoulder pain. Procedures such as multiple fillings in quadrant dentistry can be very difficult on your body. My dental partner recently had severe shoulder pain due to poor ergonomics and posturing. I decided to purchase an orbital ergonomic dental chair as an investment into my health, ergonomics, and productivity before my health became debilitating. I can honestly say that using the orbital chair has helped immensely with repetitive motion and head/neck/shoulder pain. The guys that run the company have given incredible support and their product is A1 in quality, fit and finish. I highly recommend this chair if you’re being proactive about a longterm career in dentistry.”

"It took me a little bit of time to get into the swing of using my chair, and I had some moments of doubt about my purchase at the beginning. However, I stuck with it, and the first thing I noticed that my lower back doesn’t hurt any more! After that, my next discovery was that my shoulders are not as tense. I had to learn to use it properly and develop the right muscle balance, but at this point I can happily say that I have been practicing relatively pain free for the last few months now. The biggest change is that I had to learn to reposition myself or the patient in situations when visibility was poor, because my chair simply doesn’t allow for poor posture. In the past I put myself in all sorts of contorted positions to see better, but I can’t do that in my new chair. To sum up, I am very happy with the Orbital Chair I purchased, and I would recommend this product to any colleague who suffer from similar back pain that I had."

"I have been using the Orbital microsurgery chairs for 6 months (Jan. 22, 2019). It is the only currently available chair that works well. With the adjustable chest and arm supports, adjustable angle and height of the seat and the ability to lock it in position, it can be adapted for any of my residents and fellows who vary very much in height and body type so that our view through the operating microscope match. It also enables us to maintain optimal ergonomic positioning, minimized fatigue and neck or back aches. The quality of the construction is superb. I highly recommend this chair."

"I have been a dentist for 24 years. In my 23rd year of practice I developed agonising pain in my left shoulder. The pain would constantly radiate down my arm. At night I could not sleep on the shoulder and the pain kept me awake most of the night. I spent over 6 months without a good night sleep. An MRI showed that I had tears in my rotator cuff muscles. I had not had an accident or did anything that could have created this injury. After I saw a chiropractor and physiotherapist we conclude that most of the damage was due to my shoulder posture while I was doing dental procedures. It was all due to overuse of the same muscles over and over again.
My problem was that the more I worked the more damage I was creating and the constant use of the same muscles would not allow for any healing. Stopping to work was not an option so I had to find a way to help me perform my procedures without aggravating my shoulder.
I looked at operator’s chair and tried one that was sold by all major dental supply companies. It was bulky, awkward and it was impossible to integrate that type of chair in my practice.
Then a colleague mentioned that he knew of a new chair that was just being developed in Vancouver. Ounce I contacted the two engineers who designed the new chairs, they agreed to bring the chair to Penticton at my office for me to try it. At first sight the design looked peculiar but it suddenly all made sense. The chair supported my back and my arms thereby alleviating any stress or tension on my shoulder muscles. It was amazing. I could work all day without feeling any pain on my shoulder. My partner , who is 8 years younger than me and who has no shoulder issues, decided to try it on days that I was not working. He was also amazed. He stated that he felt less fatigued and that the strain on his head and neck was minimal after long procedures. To make a long story short we bought two chairs each and have been very satisfied. The name of the chair is Orbital. Try it you will not regret it."

"I have been a practising hygienist for approximately 9 years and try as I might, I could not get into the proper ergonomic positions that I knew were critical for this profession. There were days when I would come home with my back feeling like it was on fire due to my improper ergonomics, especially from the 8 o’clock position. It was pretty much instinctive to me to bend down towards my patients especially since I am a taller hygienist, and I knew that the day would come when I would have to pay the price for my ergonomic “cheating”. I had the typical chair provided to me at the clinic with a back rest, but realistically, I found myself using the backrest approximately 10% of the time. One day I had a pinched nerve in my back/neck area and I could not bend, twist, or turn my head without a lot of pain. Even though I always had a nagging thought in the back of my head that this day would come, I unfortunately did what majority of people do in this profession, kept working and hoped for the best. But here it was and this was the final push to go do something about it! I started doing hours of research into multiple companies, read lots of reviews, watched a lot of videos, but nothing really seemed to be what I was looking for. Then I went to the Pacific Dental Conference and specifically looked for a chair to help improve my posture. I saw the booth for Orbital Support Systems and sat down on one of their chairs – WOW! I was instantly blown away! It was as if this chair knew exactly where I wanted to be, where my strain/tension was, and how to alleviate it. It felt like it was perfectly designed for my body. There are many ergonomic dental chairs, even ones with armrests, but absolutely none had a front chest support like this one had. I knew right away that this was the chair for me! The saddle chair option feels great on my legs and allows me to raise my chair higher to get to a better vantage point to see into my patients’ mouth’s (my regular chair kept cutting the circulation from my legs if I raised it a bit higher and caused tingling), the chest support keeps my back absolutely straight even if I use the spring function where I can tilt forward, and the height adjustable armrests completely alleviates any strain from my arms and neck. The build quality is top-notch, and the support from the 2 engineers that designed it is excellent. I was a little worried at first that my right armrest would get in the way when I was working from the 8 o’clock position, but found this to be a non-issue. I was also concerned that the saliva/blood splatter from my treatment would get on the chest support, but found that a head-rest barrier placed over it works perfectly. And for anyone thinking that the chest support will get in the way and not allow them to get as close as they want to their patients, I didn’t find this at all. It’s thin enough and adjustable enough to be placed perfectly to give you support and not get in the way. I’ve worked on patient’s for even 2 hours straight, something that normally would exhaust me, but found that at the end of the 2 hours, I felt no strain on my body. There was once where I tried my older chair just to compare, and I couldn’t even finish one patient. My back started to hurt and I had to switch part-way through. Since using this chair, I can honestly say that I have not had one single day where I felt any strain/soreness anywhere in my neck, back and arms at the end of the day EVER!! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this product to anyone who wants to take a pro-active approach to maintaining their musculoskeletal health."
